HONEY, a two-year old Rottweiler mix: When I arrived I
was like a lot of software people buy. I like to think I was
Honey version 1.0--with a good foundation, but still a few bugs
to work out. At RVHS Tanya has taken me under her wing and taught
me how to be one of the most social dogs here. The staff proudly
watch me refine my skills daily. I crave leadership, I would
make a great jogging partner, I love lounging in a wading pool,
I am known to be a lap dog, I share my toys--I have all these
great qualities. Right now I am Honey 5.0-- what heights will
we reach together?
FEATURED FELINE
Cats Seeking a New Home
We have many cats and kittens
who are given a temporary safe haven while waiting for their
new home. When they first arrive they are tested for feline leukemia
and aids. They are then treated with Drontal to kill tapeworm
and Revolution® to kill fleas, ear mites, roundworm, and
hookworm and to prevent heartworm. They are also vaccinated for
feline Panleukopenia, Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Chlamydia
and Leukemia. If old enough to be spayed or neutered an appointment
is made with the vet [it can take up to two weeks to get the
procedure scheduled). If a kitten is too young to be spayed or
neutered and someone wants to adopt him or her, they then become
part of our Foster-to-Adopt program and remain under RVHS supervision
until altered and officially adopted. Otherwise, the kitten and/or
their litter mates will be placed in a foster home until they
reach the required age and weight and can then be spayed or neutered
and adopted out to their new family. The total value of the standard
care a cat receives while at our shelter is estimated at $ 170.00.
A couple of these cats have been
here over a year and deserve a home to call their own. Each one
of these precious felines was brought here with the hope he or
she would find a new family quickly, but for some reason that
just didn't happen. Perhaps they were the wrong size or color
or were just too shy to make a good first impression. Please
take some time to spend with them and perhaps one [or even two)
will find a place in your heart and home.
Tigger is a very special boy who has been with us 2 years.
He was in a house fire which has made him a little shy but he
is sweet and beautiful and likes other cats too.
